This removed absolute power from the King and paved the way for parliament and the many freedoms that we enjoy today.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Sunday 14th June 2015 was labelled \u2018Grand Ringing Day\u2019 and bell ringers across the country were encouraged to celebrate our 800 years of liberty. At St Andrew\u2019s, Hornchurch we joined forces with bell ringers from South Ockendon to mark the occasion with lots of ringing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wanted as many bell ringers as possible to take part and strike a blow for democracy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After some general ringing and a break for tea, the bell ringing resumed with some continuous ringing of 2015 changes which took 1 hour and 21 minutes.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hornchurchbells.co.uk\/gallery\/magna-carta-changes.JPG?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The ringers that rang the 2015 changes: L to R: Gavin, Philip, Leonie, Chris, Paul, Jim, Clive, John and Jillian.
